Oatmeal Raisin Baby Sticks

I haven’t been able to sit down and post much in the past couple of weeks. I’ve been a busy bee getting things ready for Adrian’s first birthday party this weekend (I can’t even believe he is about to be 1!)

It rained a few times last week,  and since  me and the little man were hanging out indoors for a bit I decided to make him a special treat!

Oatmeal Raisin Sticks!

The original recipe I got from All Recipes and made a couple of kid friendly adjustments to it.

Here is my revised kid friendly version!

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2  ripe bananas
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup All Purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups quick cooking oats
  • 2 packs of raisins chopped

1. Cream butter, banana, vanilla extract and butter together.

2. Combine wet and dry ingredients.

3. Spoon log shapes or cookies shapes on a parchment lined cookie sheet and bake at 375 for about 20 minutes.

Honestly, I believe you could also omit the butter and they would still hold together and be even healthier.

I rolled them in log shapes kind of like a teething cookie and even though he only has two teeth I give him the entire cookie, they melt right in his mouth!

He absolutely LOVES them.

The incredible hulk raided my kitchen

I love the way Adrian’s eyes roll back in his head like a drug addict that just got a fix every time he gets a new bottle. Chug! Chug! Chug little man! I wish I loved drinking a simple glass of milk that much…..I wish I loved eating really lame healthy food that much.

Today was a dieting struggle for me. I’ve told myself that I am not on a diet and it’s a “Lifestyle” change of eating better and more exercise but today it was more like torture. Maybe it was the case of the Monday’s but I literally just wanted to hang out with little mini me and watch boring reality TV (That has potentially rotten my brain).

I ate well in the beginning of the day but once 3:00 rolled around my incredible hulk craving came over me and I wanted to hulk smash the kitchen apart looking for horrible delicious, fattening things and, I did…just that. My findings were Oreo cookies and not the regular but still scrumptious single stuffed ones. They were glorious double stuffed Oreos and I downed three of them like I hadn’t eaten in a week.

The irony to this short story is that because of my diet the box of Oreo cookies had sat in my cabinet for many weeks without being enjoyed and had become stale as shit. So even though I did enjoy them and all of their staleness they could have been much, much better and I was also proud of myself that they sat in the cabinet for so long without being eaten.

Tomorrow I will love my new Low Cal lifestyle again.
